Post the end of the quarter, the ATP 855P permit (Beach earning up to 40%) was awarded and under the agreed farm-in terms with Icon Energy, Beach will assume operatorship. Initial work in the permit will be the planning, acquisition and interpretation of a 300 km 2D seismic survey to investigate potential locations for a shale gas exploration well.

Shale Gas
The Encounter-1 (PEL 218 Permian, Beach 90%) exploration camp was established in September and the well spudded on 3 October 2010. Encounter-1 is the first of Beach's two well Nappamerri Trough shale gas evaluation program. The second well, Holdfast-1 is expected to spud immediately after Encounter-1 is completed, towards the end of 2010.
