Not sure how you can say Simpson was unrelated to major share holders at the time. Major shareholders at the time included Farouk Khan and Darrell Dixon.
Simpson was on the board of at least one of FK's companies at the time. Khan and Dixon were in kahooties re DLS. I see no reason to believe that Simpson was not installed by Khan and Dixon.
