In terms of the Western Sydney AFL team, I think the overwhelming majority of footy people from all over the country agree with you 100%. Most (all?) of us, apart from those on the AFL commission, would love to see a side based in Tassie. It's a 'footy state' that lives & breathes the game to the same extent as the West Australians, Sth Australians & Victorians. It's also produced some of the very best that have ever played. The only thing Tassie lacks is the VERY HIGH RISK potential upside of a bigger TV audience.
It even occurred to me that maybe club members should en masse vote with their wallets & defer renewing their memberships until their club comes out with a strong statement that endorses Tasmania as the 18th team. A SUBSTANTIAL fall in membership $ for each club would force them to really lay down the law to Demetriou & co.
Tassie may not tick all the boxes for the TV networks & business anylysts but it is the right & moral home of an 18th team.
