P, before u dispute what I've said, best u do some research buddy. The unemployed are currently not getting $750 a week, but during the covid evolution, at least in Vic, they most certainly were. I work with guys who are all over the current govt payment system, as are their kids, and are taking the piss to the maximum effect, because it allows them to do so. Just like the insulation fiasco, and the solar panels fiasco , wherever the govt has offered subsidies, and incentives, the design of the project, while I'm sure well intentioned, has been badly designed, full of loopholes, and as such, open to rorts and abuse. History repeats. If u want to back up ur very general statement with some fact, I'd appreciate ur input, and knowledge.
What the % of income received by the unemployed paid as rent is a social issue, and granted, a not insignificant 1. I'm just not sure what the bloody hell it has to do with this conversation. In my dumb view, if u drive innovation, rather than brain dead, hard work rather than idleness, then the subsequent result is a smarter, richer ( on soo many levels ) country, in which the prospects of employment for ALL are greatly increased.
I'll try and precis my arguement. Without R&D, there's no innovation. With no innovation, as a country, we'll march backwards. So ask yourself, where is ur taxpayer dollar better spent.
1/ Funding/assisting co's that have been identified as having potentially groundbreaking tech, and therefore employment opportunities for all
2/ Funding/assisting people to stay at home, pull a billy, have a stubby, and make absolutely no attempt to get a job.
I'm not against assisting people in need.I'm all for it. I'm against making that assistance so substantial that it's a disincentive to actually get off ur arse and do a days work, and the funds allocated are to the detriment of pillars of the economy that would drive a much better bang for buck, both economically, and socially.
