Lambda: a shot at your query about using phase 2.
Then a question/speculation of my own.

The LAMP's essentially modular so a RE mix from (say) phase 1 cracking could be used by the phase 2 SX separation circuits, say if you wanted oxides. And vice versa.

All the problems seem to be in the cracking/leaching stage.
The big question is, are the same problems duplicated in Phase 2?
Built by a different company. I know there were some design changes such as some concrete tanks being stainless steel in phase 2. It was built after the claims of issues with phase 1 so you'd expect the designers to give some thought to that.

A question of my own to put out there. NOT suggesting this is how things stand.
What if the design/build firm for phase 1 were challenged by Lynas about pipe issues during the build but stood firm. They claim it'll be fine and refuse to budge. Would Lynas have to start up and PROVE there are problems before they can get the issues resolved at the contractors expense?

It would be one good reason why they switched companies for phase 2 which essentially duplicates what the first lot already understood pretty well.
