Bob, where does this fit in? The FHOG was a compromise between the government of the day and labor and the democrats. THEY pushed it. The dems committed hari kari on the GST BTW.
It is logical. We [yes, me] had a nominal benefit in as much as we already owned a home without having paid GST on it's construction. The FHOG was giving back a little and was prolly OK. It destroyed the market when the boosts from both the feds and states made it silly.
