I think they do need to iron out a few issues with the hail repairers. My car was damaged in the 2017 hail storm and after it was initially assessed I was told it would be repaired. When I brought the car in for repair 5 months later they then informed me they were writing it off. It would have been preferable if they could have told that on the first assessment - that way I wouldn't have put new tyres on it, a new alternator, renewed the registration, etc. I think it was more the third party assessor's fault than the insurance company's - not taking into account the depreciation of the car over the time period between the assessment and the actual repair.
The situation was rectified easily enough though. I spoke to a supervisor, stated my case and we reached an acceptable agreement.
IAG is still one of the best performers in my portfolio - touch wood.
I think they do need to iron out a few issues with the hail...
