GDX by %age share of total market cap is mostly represented by producers who will be the major influencers IMO. Producer sp/mc is affected by ASIC, Gold Price and also production.
When production reduces, especially below forecast range, that also affects the sp and I believe that is one of the causes. Quarterly production can be affected by scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of plant and equipment.
