America is sending a message to the rest of the world what America really is. Over night 197 House members voted against Trump's impeachment; that is they condoned Trump's behaviour leading up to the Washington riot.
10 Republicans voted for Trump's impeachment and 4 abstained.
The follow-up of removing Trump from office is essentially theoretical: -by the time that the Senate gets its act together, it will be post Biden's inaugurationon the 20th (next Wednesday)
And besides, the Senate needs two third's vote to remove Trump from office and with today's senate composition, that requires a defection of 17 Senators which from the behaviour of the House today, that will not likely happen.
IMO, the Senate will defer the Trump dismissal until post the 20th which will mean a Democrat majority but still requiring 13 republicans to defect in outer to retrospectively sack Trump and deprive him of his $1 million P/A stipend as well as preventing him from ever running for federal office.

PS: The FBI are lining up "the mob" for prosecution with 170 already identified with more to come. The question is if these are convicted and jailed, will populists/pro Trump posters on these threads still support these potential 'jailbirds"? keep in mind that America's claim to global fame is its democracy and rule of law.
