I actually had the same personal experience....I could apply for German citizenship - or at least I could have many years ago. I haven't actually enquired....or even been interested to look...just been told by relatives. Then what, another passport to bother with?

So what is the case Justis? Qualification is not the same as obtaining. While I 'may' qualify for German citizenship...I will never obtain it because I'm not interested...simple as that. And for parliamentary purposes it is ridiculous to impose that possibility on people who have no interest, at all, of obtaining that foreign citizenship...I think that should be good enough for serving. Furthermore under FOI, I think all parliamentarians should be under the total scrutiny of the press and lets see who they are and they circumstances they are under. Unless they carry two passports or a birth/citizenship certificate of another country - they should be exempt from this witch-hunt.
