Buy backs fuel the short term buyers. Divis do not, as the price of the stick usually decreases by the dividend paid. Large holders and Instos doing short term trades win in buy back. Look what the past buyback did. Price moved up and returned to pre buy-back levels. Divis will reward the long term holders also, as they now have money back in their pockets, while holding their shares.
