I mounted a very strong campaign a few years back when broker masking was first introduced. The petitions that I got moving to reverse the masking of Broker ID secured several hundred signatures from broking firms from Perth through to Brisbane. My firm, Macquarie, were supportive of our wishes and presented the petitions to the ASX who said they were going to "review" the application in 3 mos time. We all know what happened! I was thrown the argument that the University of Sydney had an algorithm which proved that broker marking increased market turnover. I have never heard of such codswallop!
