Agree with your post.
We need the opposition and government to tell the truth about our debt and it not pretty ,we can't handle the truth.
When you look at the figures for house hold debt and the fact that half of Australia's households pay no tax but they want more perks from the government.
When we were married and had kids there was very little in way of government handout for kids and my wife stopped work to look after the kids and that have paid off with both doing science degree's ,you just had to manage and I think that is the key people want the government to do the thinking for them rather than using there own brains.
We do live in a lucky country and it is possible to get ahead and it not that hard but you have to do it your self because no budget or government is going to make a substantial difference to you life you have to do it your self.
