Generally not a good move-reduction in liquidity is the main reason.SP often tanks after consolidation-one example is MNC. Should not be necessary if the business suceeeds. Share buy -backs are a different thing, and the best way to reduce the amount of paper if it is a problem, but again a risk of reducing liquidity, but done as a ruse as a pre-empt to a private buy-out.
