Timely bets on AGL, Whitehaven and Qantas rocketed Sydney-based manager Merlon to the top of the list of Australian equity managers for 2023, outperforming the sharemarket by 11.7 percentage points.

The Merlon fund’s top holdings as of June included A2 Milk, Coles, Medibank, QBE Insurance, Santos, Westpac and AGL Energy.
