G'day Aimless, I guess HB emphasised my sentiment in a good post today. I had my own post which I deleted as being a non-holder I am much more careful what I say. Without an external factor to the SIA it makes no sense to what the SP is doing. The SM is good at manipulating sentiment, imo.I held SDL for five years and the fairytale was cut short. I have learnt a lot about resource coys and the steps to production in this time. The quality of posters and info on HC is amazing, imo. There is a lot of characters, all sorts of opinions, and above all sentiment is an amazing thing. The psychology and perception is something that the computerised trading systems are getting very close to influencing. The market, imo, and especially resource speccys, is emotion based trading and we get a good feel for that on HC.
The MC of SDL, although very high compared to non-producing stocks was no match for it's CAPEX. This was in main part due to port and infrastructure costs. Had they been working another way to fund this things could have been different. The African Govts are wanting to make big dollars without spending a cent. Recently, I am somewhat excited by the involvement of Core mining into the infrastructure environment. MUCH more significant than a LEG MOU and it may be why things are getting interesting, or, is it the SM messing with our psyche!
Katepolo, you cop some flak on SDL threads but I gotta love ya passion. You are a buyer and participant in our stock market thingy and people need to accept that it takes all kinds to make this emotional rollercoaster work. You have NEVER influenced my opionions of what is happening day to day on SDL but you share a common passion for the stock that a few of us here do(that is outside those who are at financial pain)and I respect that.
I have done very well out of my investment, not as good as I hoped, but nonetheless I identified a coy with a resource that is going to be world class. IMO it takes a lot of research and a little bit of luck to do so. They were at the forefront of the now African revolution. Many coys are now succumbing to the soverign risks. SDL is coy ahead of its time, a front runner and predecessor for those that follow. It has been decimated, imo, by trading houses like DB who made millions from them and then represent the party which hopes to take them over. The future of resource stocks, no matter the fundamentals is dictated by those with the short term views which dominate the current economic climate.
Love you guys, love the SDL forum, and for those that hold the faith further down the risk curve than me, i wish you the sincerest luck!
