Reduction in shares on issue should drive the share price in the longer term by increasing EPS, but this short term increase we are seeing is entirely from the buyback eating up most of the selling demand. I wouldn't consider the recently prop up to be a permanent new base for the share price, if the buyback were to cease, the share price would slide back down to <$1 IMO.
