    I suspect it's because the A$ price per kilogram of milk solids BGA (and competitors) are offering to dairy farmers in (say) South Gippsland, Victoria is more aligned with New Zealand and international prices than was the case some time back.

    While I'm not a rural dweller and the overall picture is complicated, this helps processors as they're no longer paying over the odds to suppliers even though the processors such as BGA have upped their offer by about A$0.15/kg to c.A$8.30 or so per kilogram of milk solids.
