Sydney - Wednesday - Jan 30: (RWE Australian Business News) -
Lihir Gold Ltd (ASX:LGL) has reported record material movements, record
process plant throughputs and record annual gold production for the
second year in a row.
A total of 701,091 ounces was produced, up 7.7pc on the previous
year, and including 168,370 ounces in the December quarter.
Annual sales were 708,428 ounces of gold at an average price of
$666 an ounce.
Cash gold price received for the quarter increased to $794/oz
from $677/oz in the September quarter.
Total cash costs were $301/oz for the year, up from $297/oz.
A number of important initiatives was successfully implemented
during the year, continuing the transformation of the company and
repositioning Lihir for improved financial performance.
Production for 2008 is expected to be in the region of 740,000
to 820,000 oz, including 40,000 to 50,000 oz from Ballarat.
Total cash costs for the full year are to be less than $350/oz.
