A bit tongue in cheek but who says Lanthanum oxide is in oversupply?
I use the stuff in my pool: it's called phosphate remover.
I believe it was developed by the CSIRO to control algal blooms in the Murray River.
For weeks I haven't been able to get any; pool stores, hardware outlets....
Back to toxic copper salts for the time being.
