Lux, I'm curious as to where you get your information from since it is directly contradicted by US law.
Lets start with the basics. Under US law tariffs are an import tax paid by importers, ie the companies who buy goods, materials or services from outside of the US for consumption or use for manufacturing within the US. As such the US Government (congress and by partial delegation to the president) can only place taxes (tariffs) on entities over which it has control, ie US citizens and US registered entities. This is why tariffs are paid by the importer. You get this bit right? If you are unsure how the US law works just go to Congress.gov and look at their documents. Their policy clearly shows their tariff laws.
Second and very important, foreigners don't just chuck stuff on ships and send it to the US hoping for the best. US companies place orders for the products that they wish to purchase to put in their stores, they pay for the products and also pay for it to be shipped to them. All imports to the US are as a direct result of a decision by a US importer to place said orders. When those orders arrive the importer pays the tariffs. If they don't pay the tariff the goods aren't allowed to be released from the port.
Now since the tariffs are clearly and unambiguously paid by US "importers" (definitely not foreign exporters) on arrival of goods into the US, who do you think US import companies are going to pass those new costs onto?
Let me also ask you, if Donnie wasn't sh1te scared that the tariffs on Apple iPhone etc would cause the retail price in the US to go through the roof, why did he suddenly do another backflip on these overnight? If the tariffs won't be paid by US consumers then surely the retail price wouldn't go up and there would be nothing to worry about would there? But he did this sudden backflip on hundreds of things. Why?
Please Lux, its time to open your eyes and engage with the world as it really it. Please don't let the muppets convince you that 1 + 1 = 3. Next I will find that you have been partying with Smackybot.
