Sorry for late response as have been mowing the lawn (Green bin today here). Now I’m not sure why there is confusion here, the importer will say nicely to the exporter Hey Mohammad our costs have just gone up to buy your product, (tariff) you have to lower your price or we will unfortunately be forced to look for another supplier. Mohammad says (under his breath) You God damned capitalist fat pigs may your children have bucked teeth, then he thinks for a moment and says to himself, well I do have half a dozen wives and 25 kids to feed), so he politely says, no problem kind sir we can work with you. I previously gave the example of why our farmers cop it on the chin with Coles & Woolworths. Of course if the exporter refuses he looses a guaranteed customer who can buy his goods in great quantities.
