The thing about Brexit was that it never had anything to with the independence of "the British people" or "taking back control".

It was only ever for the benefit of a section of British billionaires who thought they could accrue more profits to themselves by operating in the world economy independently of the EU .
But of course the only way British capitalism can be internationally competitive is by slashing to the bone the wages of British workers and slashing spending on social programs and and spending on health and education.
Inequality will grow exponentially.

Raving nationalists are trying to slice and dice the global economy into smaller and smaller fractions hoping 'their' capitalist class will get richer and richer based on the poverty of the majority.
This is what underlies the turn to fascism and war by the ruling classes around the world.
