True. I'm not sure they'll be any happier by themselves though, out of Europe.
I never realised the tensions were so high in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland until I ran an international congress. People, as part of the registration process, had to enter the name of their country. Simple, huh?
Everyone from 48 countries could do that - except people from the UK. Their 50+ delegates thought the actual name of their country was, variously, United Kingdom, Britain, Great Britain, England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland (some people in Northern Ireland refuse to use that name), Albion and Britian (which may have been a typo).
At that point it became clear that they pretty much all hated each other. I thought if there was ever a serious constitutional crisis they would be at each other's throats in an instant.
And then along came Brexit...
