parliamentary privilege allows MPs to say anything, regardless of how offensive, contrary to anti-discrimination laws, divisive, erroneous, abusive or just plain wrong..... without any recourse unless the Speaker or Senate President declares such contrary to parliamentary rules.
no legal imperative to act/speak in the national interest; its all about partisan interests. whatever will promote the Party is good - so racism is good, abuse is good, lies are acceptable andcanmust be taken as truth. this is why they are referred to as "Honourable" and "righteous".
and the Labs aren't very different.
abandon the parties Sailor 101... vote independent and solve this horrid problem.
