There was lots of action at Fridays close, not just in ACR.

The indexes showed significant changes during the after market auction. eg XSO went from 2706.7 at 4 pm to close at 2719.3 .

Several other thinly traded stocks I hold also showed significant changes at the close.

On factor in this may have been the S&P index changes coming into effect after the close of the market on Friday.

The changes cant be directly related correlated to index changes, eg CPB which was included in an index dropped at the close. This will be partly due to short term speculators trying to gain from any price jump as the stock is included in the index. Too many speculators results in too much stock available at the close.

It may be that the volatility is due to increased trading activity in everything due to index changes.

Alternatively, there many have been significant inflows into some managed funds, causing them to buy at the close where the unit prices for new units is calculated.

Could also be plenty of bargain hunters looking to get in close to the bottom of the correction.
