This is a 23 min documentary on the BBC world Service hosted by the outstanding journalist Martin Wolfe, who is the chief financial editor of the Financial Times.
In it he is discussing the global economy and whether we are on the edge, or going over. His interveiwees include George Soros, Larry Summers and the VP of the Bank of China, whose name I have forgotten (!).
The most telling comments I thought, though, were those by the BOC dude. He simplified the whole crisis down to two numbers that he watches. The first one is the estimated cost of the economic crash which he puts at $2.8 trillion USD and his second number is the amount which the Central Banks around the world have managed to "cover" so far which he reckons is $1.4 trillion USD. However, he has ABSOLUTELY no idea how we are going to cover the balance...scary thought.
Enjoy!
