Since the RIO-LTM TO offer, this raises the question again. Brine or hard rock? Hydroxide or carbonate?

On one side I read "fresh water consumption of direct lithium extraction (DLE) needs to be urgently quantified. Many DLE technologies might require larger freshwater volumes than current evaporative practices, compromising their applicability in arid locations." But it looks like Rio is betting on the DLE technology. What are your thoughts?

What will be used more in future batteries? Hydroxide ore carbonate? Interesting here is that LU7 is developing a lithium carbonate and not a hydroxide refinery in Canada...

Sure both will be needed to meet the demand. But I would like to open a discussion after the Arcadium news.
