    Protectionism works for china but they use 'common sense',and take no notice of IP,patents etc if its not in the good of the economy,sounds logical to me if you can get away with it and they are.
    Tariffs don't have to be across the board they can be selective and even a 5 to 10% tariff can mean the difference between business being viable or not but only if combined with required govt policy and IR's reform.
    O nly bit of common sense i have heard is dumping legislation may be changing from australian co's having to prove dumping to the foreign company having to prove they are not dumping.eg guilty until foreign co can prove it is innocent.
