afternoon,
and these days with internet purchasing - how much tax and tariff would one have to have to compete with China?
I suggest a mountain of tariff on every item otherwise no one would buy the Aussie product.
This is a different era ------------ people are awake now - they would go to the shop and seeing an item for $22
then they get on the net and see the same thing and probably better for $2 ------------ then realise the final price landed in Australia will be $25.
how long do you think they will put up with that?
Crikey - they are pissed off enough with retailers in Australia now - and retailers are only wining about gst - as if the 10% is going to make any difference.
So they vote with their feet now for a 50 or 60% difference - how angry are they going to get when the difference is hundreds of percent.
Sorry - those days are done and dusted.
If we go down that road we would have to go down it now with the imposition style of a military regime or communist state or similar.
I have no idea what we will do, but tariff days are long gone.
And that's without even thinking about free trade agreements.
Have a great day
