How do you do that? Telstra along with some Insurers and Banks use offshore facilities to "save" money. Potentially if they have to pay more for the back office share holders' dividends would fall on lower profits.
That said I think it is a rort to use cheap off shore labour to increase on shore profits. Funny how the trade unions seem to just let it happen...is there some cozy deal going on? I certainly wouldn't put it past the unions to have an "agreement"...
The company I am associated with has used offshore labour, and we were all encouraged to do so as well. For the cost of one person's wage here you could get two people off shore in the Philippines with no downtime....plus you don't have to worry about Super, Workers Comp, Holiday Leave loading and so on...
You can therefore understand why many companies out source to overseas call centres given what it costs here to employ just one person...
