People who land bank and are not using the land should be taxed...maybe 1% per annum of its value. This should apply to all land be it mining or domestic. If people are holding it and not using it then make them pay...in the mean time we get urban sprawl from vacant blocks not being utilised and we get higher commodity prices and inflation from Reinhart and palmer etc who have never produced a cent for this country from the land they hold.
I would vote for a land tax on all vacant land. I would vote for scrapping negative gearing unless autilised by business ie farmers. I would scrap fhog and capital gains ruling that over 12 months is reduced by half.
