Sol would have set the record straight with the current government and stuck to his guns. Business is not just a matter of appeasing governments and sensitive personalities, it is doing whatever it takes to bring a LONG TERM outcome for shareholders. Unfortunately, the government reaction to Sol's strategy was to fight it until the end. We will never know the true outcome of Sol's strategy as he was not left to operate Telstra as an independent entity free of government interference. It would be interesting to see the share price had he got his way....I bet it would have been much much higher today.
