I have a fairly basic question. If the scientific community is solely convinced that the planet is doomed, with a finite end less than a hundred years for humans, why are scientist still involved in research that is not focused on fixing / reversing the causes and issues? Case in point is this article: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-03/cannibal-andromeda-galaxy-on-path-to-collide-with-milky-way/11565238 Surely the effort of the brains trust should be in fixing the curent 'climate emergency' as opposed to this type of research? Get them into carbon capture, sequestration etc.
