Then why did he forfeit a court case, that he himself initiated, rather than supply his data to the court, as requested by the defense ? As I said, forget what people say, watch what people do(particularly if it appears less than transparent and costs them), and just form your own opinion. Same story for Phil Jones, then head of the UEA/CRU in 2012. Wouldn't release his data for FOI requests.
Perhaps you have much stronger faith in human nature in general, and these individuals in particular than me. When I see shiftiness I assume that I am dealing with a shifty person.
