Its generally accepted in a just society that those with capacity to pay, pay more. A progressive tax system is based on fairness and equity, not on envy.

It provides a safety net for those less fortunate. Do some people rort the system? Sure. Do wealthy people rort other aspects of the system. They sure do.

These 'wealthy' people may think they contribute more (in a monetary sense they do) but you will find over the ages the less wealthy generally contribute far more in terms of providing their bodies in the service of their country ie fighting wars.

Anyhoo, I dont envy dole bludgers. They live on the poverty line. What fun is that.
