    No worries, explain why the judge would give the report to journos in the first place.

    Sodonchroff's reasoning is clearly explained in the above news report.

    Interestingly, he reveals that two journalists were chosen for direct updates on the Inquiry:

    Mr Sofronoff said he had given copies of his report to two reputable senior journalists who wrote for mainstream media organisations, The Australian’s Janet Albrechtsen and the ABC’s Elizabeth Byrne, and had conversations with both of them during the inquiry.

    A right-of-centre outlet and a left-of-centre outlet sounds like a balanced decision. However, whilst Albrechsten reported constantly on the Inquiry's progress in great detail I don't ever recall the ABC covering the Inquiry to the level that Albrechsten did. I may be wrong but I've never even heard of Byrne.
