I was privileged enough to be in the company of friends of my grandfather and father’s friends who were farmers from Cunderdin .
They all served in Africa in WW2 and one night when I was around 8 years old they happened to Stray onto their time OS.
The story kicked off when one of them remembered a friend who was very unlucky.
He died from a bullet in the head from a dog fight as the convoy they were in was heading north.
I’ve never seen a group of old blokes go grey in an instant, so quickly.
After that lapse, they rattled off so many great humour stories of their time in Africa it was almost possible to forget the story that kicked off the discussion.
I won’t forget these great blokes.
