Because when the shit hits the fan it makes little difference how the despot was spawned.
Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao, Putin. Right or left wing the result is the same with an ego driven power trip ready and able to sacrifice millions of innocent lives. The politics involved is the means to motivate the willing helpers in their quest for a slice of the power and to justify what they do.
