Whilst everyone is innocent until proven guilty, I still believe that we should also take the approach that every victim should be believed until proven otherwise. That means that he is entitled to a fair trial and she should be given all of the respect and support from the onset on the assumption that her claim is true.

Having said all of that, I'm not sure how the ministers that knew about this could have handled the situation in a way that would make everyone happy? They didn't know about the alleged assault until after the accused had already resigned as the young lady didn't mention it until her second interview. They also brought in the AFP immediately and Brittany asked to not pursue a complaint.

It may very well turn out that her reason for not pursuing the complaint was a culture of punishing the victim and her career would be impacted. That would very likely be true in many workplaces. I'm certain that most women who work in the media that are slamming the MPs involved would be in a much worse environment for the same problem. It's a horrible choice for anyone to have to make but it's a cultural problem that unfortunately is being directed at a few people that probably don't deserve to take the fall for it.
