Its far from a dead dog but completely different.
88e is in exploration albeit in locations with larger producers (Conoco etc). Their Merlin 1 site is close to Conoco's Willow lease which in its own, has an estimate of 600m barrels. Conoco also said today in their investor update that its watching prospects close by which estimate up to 3B barrels (88e 1.6 / Pantheon 1.4). That is what boosted the numbers today.
I can actually see 88e learning from BRK in how they acquire real estate, confirm resources, hedge drilling / production costs with partners then fund their next programs. Also helping 88e is the almost 24/7 trading across Australia, London then the USA.
I hold substancial amounts of both stocks and looking forward to big results on both fronts
