    Hi Noodle, @Noodle29
Small caps represent just under 10% of my investments, whether it be share holdings or CFDs.
I trade on long standing companies working the charts through the various bands. I never average up on a stock and always look for an exit from the moment I buy. Some stocks I hold for months, others minutes. Ask yourself, "How much do I want to make on this trade?" Stick to it. Also write down your trading strategy, and again.....stick to it.
My advice, is never over commit on a small cap. It should be money you are prepared to lose.
Further, do research, lots of it. Understand the fundamentals of a company. Never jump on a stock because a friend or colleague suggests it. Without research, this is just gambling.
Finally, learn how to read various charts. This allows you to make decisions on trends. This serves me well.
    .
Footnote: I bought BRN in March and only have a small holding. I have not added another cent (this is called 'not getting caught up in the emotion'). Haven't been tempted to sell either as I find it an interesting stock and am interested to see where it might go.

    Good luck.
