mjshackle - I oversimplified it, thanks for putting that right. But, there is a middle ground between what you outline and my base line market testing comment. And it is here I feel we missed/are missing the mark.

I appreciate the advantages and reasons behind having a taster or loss/leader product (mousetrap). Which you rightly state is what Akida 1.0 has become. As PVDM said, mistakes were made but we are stronger for them. But it did not need to be that way, at least not to the degree of time and cost that it has. My opinion is better management and strategy would have reduced the cost and time it took to identify these misjudgments, which in turn would have put us closer to being ion the right track.

The person we need is not ten a penny. But money and share incentives talk. It is my belief that such a person would have realised that the road being traveled (i.e. the strategy) was not the best option.

Too often HC'ers leave statements of "fact" just hanging, which I hate. I hope the above has added more meat to the bone.
