BPL is also due to be launched in South Australia, by the Cheung Kong Industry / Hutchison Whampoa Group and in NSW by Energy Australia.

Saw on ABC news a couple of weeks ago, about the BPL usage in America. The consumers there are using BPL for 90 mps broadband internet, VoIP (free phone calls) and dial up movies. The electric companies are doing meter reading electronically over the BPL, no need for human meter readers anymore.

An IT guy used BPL in America last year and wrote about the convenience and the speed in the IT section of The Age.
