Just saw a TV segment on this technology. It looks like it's going to kick some ass.

They say analysis' are predicting one quarter of broadband users going to the new broadband over power line technology.

On the home user side, it comprises of a device that fits around the power cable then connects to a proprietary access point (size of a small Ethernet hub) then to your computer(s) and or phone line.

As newer versions of the technology evolve like the evolution of radio AM to FM or TV black & white to colour or dial up modem to cable/ADSL modems, it seems the next generation in higher speed broadband is approaching, broadband over power line.

Country areas or areas void of adequate ISP coverage are the first and congested suburban areas may have to wait while the technology evolves. Perhaps targeting a smaller audience in the congested CBD like some community state institutions, hospitals, govt departments etc could be considered first as an alternative to the existing service.
