I use bigpond cable & despite the very occasional hiccup, I think its terrific. It is quicker than the ADSL installed at my work & its cheaper too. I am limited to 1000meg d/load limit per month but that suits me.
Being permanently logged on is excellent especially for emails.
The only advice I would give you is buy a good firewall & virus. I use Zonealarm Plus as a firewall & Sophos as a virus protector.
