Coal-to-gas-to-liquid fuel – a global first in Australia
A Brisbane-based company is close to producing ultra-clean fuel from coal in what would be a global first.
Linc Energy is getting dozens of inquiries daily from overseas and interstate.
The technology works like this: Coal is turned into gas while it's still in the ground. Above-ground the gas is turned into liquid fuel.
It's still all a trial, out at Chinchilla, a farming town of about 3,500 people some 300 kilometres by road west of Brisbane.
But Diet Simon has found out from Sinc’s general manager for government and environment affairs, Justyn Peters, that fuel production is due to start any day.
