    - Gigantic economic problems.
    - Terrible and worsening fundamentals (resources depleting fast, i.e. coal gone and North sea in steep decline).
    - Unsolvable rising social problems.

    But ignore that, have a cup of tea and watch Top Gear. That'll help.

    I lived there for a while in the 90's. Had fun but wouldn't live there now ...
