KoBold is seeking copper, cobalt, nickel, lithium, and rare earths—the key ingredients of electric car batteries and other renewable energy tech. The International Energy Agency predicts demand for all of those metals may quadruple by 2050, and demand for some, like cobalt and nickel, may swell as much as 40-fold.
