it's no big deal to change battery factory facilities to make batteries from different chemistries, especially if the new product is cheaper and technically superior for the type of vehicle to be manufactured.
Ford has recently announced it is opening a new EV plant in Michigan using different (ie, LFP) battery technology than is being used in its existing Georgia factory producing NCM batteries.
COB is a high risk venture for multiple reasons, not just changing battery chemistry. This is something the market has recently woken up to and as a consequence downgraded its market cap to match the risks.
Getting it of the ground sooner rather than later is the key, and hopefully COB management can find a way through. Unfortunately success is by no means guaranteed.
